Tour Description

The tour of the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo begins at Parque Colon, located in the heart of the historic district. This place is known as the city’s main square and is considered one of the most emblematic places in the area. Here you can enjoy colonial architecture and learn about the city’s history.

Continuing the tour, the next stop will be at Calle Las Damas, one of the oldest streets in the city and one of the most important during the colonial era. Along this street, you can appreciate the beautiful colonial houses and architecture, as well as learn some historical anecdotes related to this area.

Next, we will arrive at the Alcazar de Colon, an impressive palace built during the colonial era that was the residence of Diego Colon, son of Christopher Columbus, and his wife Maria de Toledo. This place is one of the most visited in the Colonial Zone and has a large collection of art and historical objects dating back to the 16th century.

The next stop is the Museum of the Royal Houses, a building that was constructed in 1511 and was used as the colonial government headquarters during the Spanish era. Here you can see a large collection of art and historical objects, as well as learn more about the history and culture of the Dominican Republic.

Finally, we will arrive at Calle del Conde, one of the most important and bustling streets in the city, which offers a large number of shops, restaurants, and bars. This street is ideal for enjoying a relaxing stroll and learning more about the city’s daily life.

Calle Las Damas

Continuing our tour, we will walk through the oldest street in America, which owes its name to the noble ladies who used to walk along it in colonial times. Here we can admire the colonial houses, their balconies and their interior patios. Duration: 30 minutes. Free entrance.

Alcázar de Colón

We will visit the impressive palace built in colonial times and which was the residence of Diego Colón, son of Christopher Columbus, and his wife María de Toledo. We will be able to see the rooms, the central patio and the exhibitions of art and historical objects dating from the 16th century. Duration: 1 hour. Entrance included.

Museo de las Casas Reales

This building was the seat of the colonial government during the Spanish era. Here we can see art exhibitions and historical objects dating from pre-Hispanic times to contemporary times, as well as learn more about the history and culture of the Dominican Republic. Duration: 1 hour. Entrance included.

Calle del Conde

We will end our tour in El Conde pedestrian street, one of the most important and busiest in the city, where we can shop and enjoy the daily life of Santo Domingo. Duration: 1 hour. Free entrance.
