Tour Description

The “Cave of the Virgin Waterfall Trail” tour is a unique experience that will take you through some of the most beautiful places in the Barahona region of the Dominican Republic.

We will start our tour at the Larimar Workshop and Museum School, where you can learn about the history and production of the semiprecious stone Larimar, which is only found in the Dominican Republic. After visiting the museum, we will head to the Bahoruco community and visit small artisan workshops, where craftsmen demonstrate their skills in creating small crafts.

Next, we will continue to the Cave of the Virgin. After exploring the cave, we will return to the Barahona coastal area, where you can enjoy a well-deserved rest on the beach or try some of the local dishes at nearby restaurants.

This tour is perfect for nature lovers.

Arrival at the river

Arrival at the river and start of the walk along the river, discovering increasingly bluer and more abundant pools. Observation of the flora and vegetation on the banks of the river, including huge Javilla and Cabirma trees. Bird watching such as the Chipita Candela (Cigua Canaria), Julián Chiví, Jew, as well as amphibians and crustaceans.

Arrival at the Plaza

Arrival at La Plaza spa, with spectacular natural pools of cold, crystal clear water. Opportunity to enjoy a refreshing swim in the waterfalls. The most adventurous will be able to explore the mouth of the Cañada de Deguindadero.

Return

Beginning of the return along the path to the lodging place of the participants. Continuation of the observation of the flora and fauna of the river and its surroundings. The participants will be dropped off at their place of accommodation by the team of professional guides.
